News from Scott Bakal!

It has been an exciting year for Scott Bakal (2007). Scott won a total of 21 awards this past year from all the major illustration competitions including the Society of Illustrators New York, Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, American Illustration, Communication Arts, 3X3 and Spectrum. Of the 21, he has won 11 awards just from his thesis work including a Silver Medal from the Society of Illustrators. His thesis has also been printed into a cloth-hardbound, signed and numbered, limited edition book titled Me & the Devil. Also, because of his outstanding achievements, The University of Hartford and The Hartford Art School awarded Scott the Regent's Honor Award for Graduate Students, the highest award bestowed upon Master's students.

"I'd have to say that the Hartford Art School Limited Residency MFA in Illustration program is certainly the catalyst that helped me achieve the goals I set for myself artistically 3 years ago. I NEVER would have imagined this sort of industry success especially after being in the business for 15 years. Thank you to Murray and Bill Thomson for letting me do what I wanted to do but still being there to guide me and make sure I didn't do something completely stupid."
